The Foster Parent Role
As a foster parent, you provide an essential bridge for greyhounds transitioning to their forever homes. Your responsibilities include:
- Temporary Shelter: Offering a safe, nurturing environment where greyhounds can relax and adjust away from the track.
- Basic Training: Helping with house manners, including crate training and walking on a leash. Your guidance is crucial in teaching them how to live comfortably in a home setting.
- Socialization: Introducing greyhounds to new experiences, people, and other pets in a positive way. This helps them become well-adjusted and confident.
- Love and Support: Providing affection and stability, which are vital for building trust and easing their transition into family life.

How to Become a Foster Parent
Interested in fostering? Here’s how to get started:
- Contact Us: Complete an inquiry on our site or reach out to us on Facebook if you have any questions. You may also complete our adoption/fostering application if you are ready to get started. Note that fees do not apply to fostering and are only applicable to adoption.
- Meet Our Team: We'll contact you to discuss fostering and answer any questions.
- Prepare Your Home: We'll guide you on how to create a welcoming space for your foster dog. A home visit will be scheduled to ensure you are prepared to bring your foster into their new digs.
- Welcome Your Foster Dog: Begin your rewarding journey as a foster parent.
Please Note: Foster opportunities are limited to a 2-hour radius of Goshen, Indiana, to ensure hounds have access to the support they need. Fosters with sighthound experience are preferred.

At Greyt Angels, fostering a greyhound is completely free. We cover all costs associated with the care of the foster dogs, including:
