Meet Princess Annie, a cherished greyhound from the American Lurcher Program, who found her forever home with Sheryl and Chris. Here is her story told by her loving forever family.
A Fateful Meeting
In January 2019, Annie met her future family at a Greyt Angels meet and greet. Her gentle and frisky nature captured the hearts of Sheryl and Chris, who initially planned to foster her.
Hi! I'm Annie. I became a Greyt Angel from the American Lurcher Program in December 2018. I was at a meet and greet with the Greyt Angels in January 2019 when I met my Mom and Dad without even knowing it. My Mom has helped with fostering greyhounds since September 2016 and she has admittedly fallen in love with a few of her fosters...You see, Mom was volunteering with the Greyt Angels at the meet and greet when I was meeting other prospective parents. Mom fell in love with me because I was so soft, gentle, frisky and fabulous. Mom and Dad said they would foster me...little did they know that I would become such an important part of their lives!
A Perfect Match
Despite initial hesitations—like not having a fenced yard or being home during the day—Annie proved that greyhounds adapt wonderfully to leash walks and love napping alone.
There were so many excuses as to why they couldn't foster before me...they didn't have a fenced in back yard (Greyhounds do GREYT on leash walking), Mom and Dad aren't home during the day...(HELLO! I love to nap). But I showed them the unconditional love that us greyhounds have for humans and they fell head over paws for me.
Life with Annie
Since adopting Sheryl and Chris as her parents, Annie enjoys car rides, frequent meet and greets, and playdates with foster friends. Her playful spirit surprises everyone, especially during tug-of-war with her dad.
Since adopting them as Mom and Dad, I have had unlimited snuggles, I love to go on car rides, I visit my friends at the meet and greets every month and we even have friends over to foster!
Spoiled with Love
Annie has her mom trained to buy her a new collar each month and make homemade treats. She ensures her family stays active with nightly walks, keeping them healthy and happy.
I have Mom trained to buy me a new collar for every month (yeah, Mom likes to buy me new collars)...and lots of stuffies to chew on. For almost being 8, I surprise Mom and Dad at how playful I am. I love playing tug-o-war with Dad with my platypus! I have Mom and Dad trained to bake me homemade treats...I take them on walks every night because it is healthy for them.
A Grateful Heart
Annie's story is a testament to the unconditional love greyhounds bring to a family. Sheryl and Chris are thankful to Greyt Angels and the American Lurcher Project for bringing Annie into their lives.
